Discover: Ukulele with Matt Laurie.

Of all the instruments, the ukulele is the happiest. It is straight-forward to play, easy to learn and lends itself to group music making.

This course is suitable for people of all levels. No previous musical experience is necessary… if you are a complete beginner then you’ll learn the ukulele from scratch and will have the opportunity to play in a band. And if you some ukulele experience then you’ll get a lot out of this course too… you’ll be able to extend your skills and learn new techniques and repertoire.

There will be five Monday evening workshops during which you will:

  • learn how to play the ukulele from scratch (beginner level)

  • learn a repertoire of popular, socially engaged songs from different eras.

  • learn how to play in a band

  • learn new voicings, strumming patterns, solos (intermediate level)

  • explore improvisation

An Open Mic night will happen after the course on Friday 29 May and participants of this course will be welcome to share their music.
