Exploring: Creating Music with Others with Mark Bradshaw and Matt Laurie
6 week course beginning on Monday 8 June at 7.45pm
Join Mark Bradshaw and Matt Laurie and a group of lovely like-minded people to explore how to create music with others. We’ll be making melodies, chord progressions, harmonies, basslines and we’ll bring this all together to make complete arrangements. An open mic after the course will offer the chance for participants to share their creations.

A welcoming and inspiring space to develop your observational drawing skills, whilst working from a nude model. These sessions are designed to give the opportunity to draw the human form in a supportive, focused environment, guided by an experienced tutor.

From 21st March, John Parsons will be taking over our kitchen every Saturday with a series of special one-off menus each week. See example menus below.

Summer Solstice @ 10 Trees: Yoga Flow with Emily Kaye.

Join Emily for a one hour Flow yoga class held outdoors on the grass in the beauty of the garden.
Expect an energising but accessible 60-minute yoga flow. A yoga flow is a style of practice where movement and breath are linked together in a gentle, continuous flow. You’ll move smoothly from one posture to the next, creating a rhythm that feels almost like a moving meditation.

We’re thrilled to welcome back Hot Flamingo, the amazing gypsy jazz band that sold out our inaugural Music as Medicine event last September. With ‘Philosophy Café’ we aim to ignite our minds to deep thinking. To consider, reconsider and seed new thoughts. This is a group which offers a meeting place for those wishing to engage in deep debate, but also those who are wishing to meet others and spark up meaningful conversation.
Each month we introduce concept, thought and perception to evoke a strong dialogue , allowing all to participate or to sit, consider and enjoy. Like the great philosophers of the past, we reintroduce a small space for expansive thought.

Backbending is about more than just flexibility; it’s about finding the perfect balance between strength, breath, and trust. In this multi-level intensive, we will deconstruct the mechanics of a healthy backbend. All levels welcome - from beginners to experienced yogis.

Writing and performing together since 2022, Sheffield-based duo Ruby Doo and the Moochers bring their blend of jazz, swing and folk to Open House. Silent Book Club.
7-9pm every last Thursday of the month.
Come join us for a companionable reading experience at Open House. Readers bring their own book, there is no assigned reading, we read together at our own pace. The group offers an opportunity for focused, quiet reading time - an introvert friendly social meet up, no small talk required.
Over the 2 hours the first 30 minutes would be used to settle in, get a drink and find a comfortable space. An hour of silent reading would follow and then the last 30 minutes given over to chat or keep reading.
Vinyasa Foundations: Building Strength & Confidence in the Flow with Ryan Spence.

Through a mix of pose breakdown, simple strength drills, and short flow sequences, we’ll break down the key elements of a vinyasa — from Plank to Chaturanga (or Knees–Chest–Chin), Cobra (or Upward Dog), and into Downward Dog — exploring how strength and stability are actually created through the hands, shoulders, and core.

Join us for a free Qigong taster session to meet Poh-Eng! The session is an introduction to taijiwuxigong (tie-chee-woo-she goong).
In this special session we will learn simple standing and sitting exercises. This practice will invite deeper body awareness and release of tensions. Alongside movement, simple mantras will be taught to support the practice and calm the mind.

Auka comes from an Old Norse word meaning to grow or augment - a term that perfectly sums up the band’s organic and distinctive approach to music-making, where original folk melodies gradually swell from moments of delicate calm to those of frenetic energy.

Join Tahir for an engaging and lively one-hour talk to find out how to navigate around the night sky from Hathersage and the surrounding areas.
The night sky holds many beautiful objects, many of which are visible without expensive telescopes or equipment. In this talk, you will learn how to recognise and find the major constellations, stars, planets, and galaxies visible during the spring months from the Peak District.

Following in the sprit of a drum circle, this session is for instrument players to get together, jam, improvise and co-create some beautiful music. Bring your instrument or use the ukuleles, keyboards, handpan, drums and percussion that are available here.
Dizzy Club.

Almost no other band seems to possess the ability to perform in so many varied and diverse venues as The Dizzies. You are just as likely to find them performing for a club full of twentysomething cool cats or to an audience of trad jazz fans. With influences of Hot Club, 40's swing, Blue note Soul and Sinatra often with Latin rhythms, the Dizzies have an edge that most bands would die for.

Celebrate the two years of Open House with a double bill featuring Bradford/Leeds-based Afrofusion-funk-jazz band KONTIKI and roof-raising samba from the pop-up community samba band SixWeekSamba.
Open House Anniversary: John Parsons x Simon Foster West African Kitchen Takeover.

Local chefs John Parsons and Simon Foster will be taking over the Open House kitchen for the day, cooking iconic West African dishes such as Shakshuka, Bus Station Kefta (spiced lamb meatballs simmered in a tomato sauce with poached eggs), Egusi (vegan tofu and spinach stew), Yassa (lemon-marinated chicken), Jollof Rice, goat or vegan chickpea & lentil curry, flat breads, and fried plantain. Join Kelly for a workshop that will introduce each of the five elements and offer guidance in nurturing your body, mind, and soul.
We will explore how to enhance our overall wellbeing through subtle Dru Yoga techniques. Using the elements we’ll cultivate stability in the body, enhanced flow in our relationships, heightened creativity, deeper self-nourishment, clearer communication, and a profound sense of stillness and calm.
