Discover: Ukulele with Matt Laurie.
7.45-8.45pm every Monday (5 week course) 20 April - 18 May
Of all the instruments, the ukulele is the happiest. It is straight-forward to play, easy to learn and lends itself to group music making. This course involves five workshops and a sharing event and is suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience.

Pilates with Marjo Karhu.

Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise designed to strengthen muscles while improving posture, flexibility, and balance. It focuses on core engagement and controlled movements. Pilates is great for beginners as well as long-time Pilates lovers.

Open Studio.
7-8.30am every Wednesday.
From 7am to 8.30am, upstairs at Open House will be open for personal practice. These sessions are not led by a teacher, the space is simply open for you to roll out a yoga mat and spend the time as you see fit, for free.
Although the sessions are not taught, during Open Studio, Rachel, our Ashtanga yoga teacher, will be on hand to give guidance, making this the perfect opportunity to practice the Ashtanga sequence in a Mysore style session.

Dru Yoga is a gentle, therapeutic style of yoga designed to align the body, breath, and mind. Dru Yoga is one of our gentlest classes and a great place to start as a beginner.

Holly’s Yoga Flow classes are a practice of awakening to your senses and building proprioception (awareness of the position and movement of the body). These sessions are a chance to celebrate the magic of being in your body.
Yin Yoga with Holly Benson.

Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice that invites you to turn inward and listen deeply to your body. Floor-based postures are held for several minutes, allowing time for the muscles to soften and the deeper connective tissues to release. Yin yoga is suitable for beginners, as well as more experienced practitioners seeking a more introspective practice.
Ashtanga Yoga with Rachel Roy.
7-8.15am every Friday.
Ashtanga is a dynamic style of yoga that follows a set series of poses, practised in the same order each time. These poses are linked together through flowing movement coordinated with the breath, creating a continuous, rhythmic practice. Ashtanga is one of our more challenging classes.
Breathwork with Sophie Kirkton.
9.30-10.30am every Friday.
Breathwork is a practice involving the conscious, intentional control of breathing patterns to improve physical, mental, and emotional health. This foundational style of breathwork is a great place to start as a beginner.

Every other Saturday, join us at Open House for a special 90-minute yoga practice. These longer-format classes allow us to dive deeper into a well-rounded journey of yoga, where alongside movement, there will be explorations into breathwork, meditation and relaxation.

Hatha Yoga is a traditional style of yoga, which often holds the poses for longer than in styles such as Yoga Flow. Hatha yoga is a great place to start as a beginner.
Kids’ Yoga, Storytelling & Nature Crafts with Helen Wilson.
10-11am every other Saturday.
Kid’s yoga is a play-based adaptation of traditional yoga, focusing on children’s physical, mental, and emotional development rather than perfect poses. All abilities and bodies are welcome, these are inclusive sessions.
Qigong with Poh-Eng San.
9.30-11am every Monday.
Qigong (chee-gong) is an ancient practice, originating in China, which combines gentle movement and focused intention to balance and increase life-force energy, or “qi”. It is often described as meditation in motion.
In these classes Poh-Eng will be teaching taijiwuxigong (tie-chee-woo-she goong) - a complete self-healing form of qi gong.
Mini & Me: Pilates for New Mamas & Papas with Marjo Karhu.
11am-12pm every Tuesday.
A Pilates class designed for new mums and dads. This is a relaxed and welcoming session that gives you the chance to move your body and bring your baby along.

If you’ve ever felt unsure in class, wondered whether you’re “doing it right,” or simply want to understand the practice more deeply, this course is for you.
Each week builds on the last, combining clear explanation, simple drills, and a guided sequence so you can understand not just what you’re doing, but why.
Qigong & Tai Chi with Matt Laurie.

Join us as we replant our awareness into our bodies and enjoy the beautiful and flowing movements of Tai Chi and Qigong. Facilitated by Matthew Laurie, this class will introduce the principles of embodiment alongside a series of traditional qigong movements, tranquil sitting and standing meditation.

This is an opportunity to sit in silence and presence, find your centre, understand more about your self and explore the practice of compassion and wisdom within community.

Join the Hope Valley Samba band and learn some fabulous grooves with other members of the community.
Alongside having a splendid time as we form a Samba Band, we will work towards a performance at the Open House anniversary event on 14th February.
Discover: Songwriting with John Nicholson.

The second of our short courses is “Discover: Songwriting”, facilitated by local singer / songwriter John Nicholson.
The course provides the opportunity to explore and try a structured, yet fluid, approach to songwriting. With a particular emphasis on capturing and expressing your ideas, it will suit participants at all levels - those who have done little or no songwriting and existing songwriters who would like to explore a new dynamic approach.
