Get your dancing shoes on for our first House Party as we turn Open House into a nightclub. Disko Klubb will ignite the party with Soul, Boogie and Classic Disco through to Balearic, Italo and House. Opposable Drums go deep with a live set of ambient breaks, percussive techno and hypnotic grooves. International DJ and producer Nahi Mitti steps up the pace for the ravers.
Disko Klubb
Born out of a shared love of 80s boogie, vocoders and Scandinavian disco, the Disko Klubb sound has been evolving on the dancefloors of Hull and Sheffield for nearly 15 years, by way of residencies at The Polar Bear and Plug. The music policy runs Soul, Boogie and Classic Disco through to Balearic, Italo and House. The Venn Radio residents don’t plan their sets. So some nights that means wobbly basslines and darker electro. Some nights it doesn’t.
Opposable Drums
Opposable Drums is a Sheffield-based live electronic music duo specialising in 100% live percussive electronic dance music. Paul Mann and Matthew Laurie, who have performed together for over 20 years, play improvised, non-stop sets using electronic drum kits, keyboards and synthesisers to create ambient breaks, deep soundscapes and dance floor grooves, presenting techno as a fusion of afro, latin and western percussive patterns underpinning contemporary sound design and synthesis. Their music is tailored for movement spaces, clubs, and outdoor gatherings and explores the relationship between electronic music, improvisation, flow, fire-side music-making and deep dance journeying.
Nahi Mitti
Nahi Mitti is a DJ, producer and artist working in and between moods, genres and the space on and around dancefloors. Across radio shows, clubs and art spaces, their work has been heard internationally.
