Ryan Taylor’s Power Trio.

The Power Trio are a dynamic neo-soul, funk, disco, jazz ensemble led by Ryan Taylor, an award-winning Sheffield-based keyboardist, vocalist, composer and producer. Brought up on a strict diet of Stevie Wonder, Prince, James Brown and Michael Jackson, alongside Robert Glasper, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, Ryan injects jazz and soul into the nu-funk idiom. Expect face-melting solos, silky smooth vocals from a true expert in band-leading. He’s joined by bass virtuoso Alex McGibbon, whose slap-bass artistry pays homage to the golden era of the ’70s and ’80s, and drummer Tom Townsend, whose authenticity and versatility lay the foundation for floor-filling, festival-rocking grooves.

Ryan’s playing has taken him to some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including a headline performance at Glastonbury’s Jazz Stage and a residency at Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab. Closer to home, his collaborations with Nicola Farnon, Steve Edwards, The Dizzy Club, Acoustic Angels, Katie Bosworth, Fusion Inusual, Julian Jones, Billie Jane and Emily West (the list goes on) have made him a staple of the Sheffield scene.
