Philosophy Café.

With ‘Philosophy Café’ we aim to ignite our minds to deep thinking. To consider, reconsider and seed new thoughts. This is a group which offers a meeting place for those wishing to engage in deep debate, but also those who are wishing to meet others and spark up meaningful conversation.

Each month we introduce concept, thought and perception to evoke a strong dialogue , allowing all to participate or to sit, consider and enjoy. Like the great philosophers of the past, we reintroduce a small space for expansive thought.

Thank you to Jennifer Murphy and Brian Harrison for creating this community group.

  • A space for thoughtful conversation and shared enquiry.

At Philosophy Café, we come together to discuss thought provoking questions that lie at the foundation of our belief systems. Questions about life, meaning, ethics, truth, and more.

Our aim is to create a friendly and respectful environment where people can reflect and work together to explore these questions.

We use the tools of philosophical enquiry - analysis, reflection, and rational dialogue - to deepen understanding and open up new ways of seeing. This spirit of enquiry goes back to Socrates, who asked searching questions, not to lecture, but to learn alongside others. He believed that truth emerges not from having the right answers, but from asking the right questions:

"The unexamined life is not worth living." - Socrates

This is not a debating society in the modern sense. It is not a place to push personal views or to win arguments, but a space to think aloud, listen deeply, and remain open to different perspectives. Everyone is encouraged to bring their questions, not their conclusions.

If you are curious, you are warmly welcome. No prior knowledge is needed - only an open mind and a willingness to explore together.

"Philosophy begins in wonder." - Plato

  • Jennifer is a qualified YTA Yoga teacher, Degree student of Classics and Art History, Published Poet, sacred dance teacher and international selling Goddess Artist.

Jennifer leads and facilitates workshops across the UK and has been working within spirituality for over 25 years. Jennifer is a passionate embodied writer and artist, drawing from ancient history and meditative practice to pull forward concepts lost in the past.

“My aim is to teach and bridge the pathway between the ancient and the modern, to bring forward what cannot be seen, to open our sense to the magic and beauty within the world. To reclaim what has been lost and to impassion others upon their paths."

  • Brian’s vision for the Philosophy Café is to create a space where holding and savouring the question is valued above rushing to an answer. He believes that growth and learning flourish when we remain open-minded and willing to revise our ideas.

Brian holds a degree in Philosophy and has nurtured a lifelong passion for the subject.
