Sunday Best: Sunday Roast with John Parsons.

Join us in your Sunday Best at Open House! Starting on Mother’s Day on Sunday 15th March, John will be taking over our kitchen serving up a Sunday roast every week.

Our pop-up bar will also be open, serving beer, wine and more.

About this event:

  • Date - 11am-2.45pm every Sunday, from 15th March

  • Price - £21 per person, £15 for children & elders (under 13s / over 65s)

  • Location - Downstairs @ Open House

  • Booking - Not required, just turn up! We have a limited number of bookings available for larger groups of 6+ people, please email us if you’d like to book a spot.

  • The Open House team first met John Parsons when we opened our kitchen a year and a half ago, through our kitchen manager Maria McCaffrey. Maria had worked with John previously at The Sir William, a historic inn in Grindleford, and had only the highest praise for his cooking as a chef there.

    John is local to Hope Valley and has built up a solid reputation and loyal following during his many years as a chef, working in a variety of establishments across Sheffield and North Derbyshire including The Anglers Rest, Sheffield’s Food and Fine Wine, The Beer Engine, The Kitchen on Ecclesall Road, Breedon Cement Works Canteen and The Hathersage Social Club.

    Almost everyone you speak to locally knows of John Parsons and raves about his cooking, and it’s easy to see why - his food is creative and refined but not at all fussy, a mix of French classical with British traditional pub grub, using local ingredients with global flavours and cooking styles.

    We have had the absolute pleasure of partnering with John on several events now, from private suppers and weddings to community feasts, and we are delighted to have him back again in the Open House kitchen for this latest kitchen takeover.

  • Vegan and vegetarian menu options available mirroring all the flavours and textures. Please let us know when booking if you have any food allergies or intolerances we should know about, and we will do our best to cater for your needs.
