Ashtanga Yoga with Rachel Roy.

Ashtanga is a dynamic style of yoga that follows a set series of poses, practised in the same order each time. These poses are linked together through flowing movement coordinated with the breath, creating a continuous, rhythmic practice. Ashtanga is one of our more challenging classes.

Rachel’s classes take a steady approach to the Ashtanga Primary standing sequence. Rachel offers nurturing hands-on adjustments in a relaxed, workshop style environment. Week by week expect to work towards flowing through with Ashtanga Vinyasa in a moving meditation, as we learn how to synchronise movement to the breath.

Rachel creates a setting that helps make ashtanga accessible to all. All that’s needed is a commitment to move mindfully with patience and curiosity! Come with an open mind and playful heart, with the prospect of building strength and slowly increasing flexibility.

    Some words from Rachel:

“I reluctantly first started teaching for Sheffield Hallam University just over a year after qualifying with my Yoga Teacher Training, someone twisted my arm to cover their classes, and honestly I have never looked back since. I am so grateful for that nudge in the most incredibly life changing direction. I have been teaching 1:1 Yoga for 9 years now.

Being a single mum of three girls - Ashtanga Yoga gave me a certain sense of resilience and grounding, establishing structure and order in my life like nothing else and without it, I truly do not know where I would be.”
