Of all the instruments, the ukulele is the happiest. It is straight-forward to play, easy to learn and lends itself to group music making.
This five session course is suitable for people of all levels. If you are a complete beginner then you’ll learn the ukulele from scratch and will have the opportunity to play in a band. If you have more experience then you’ll be able to extend your skills and play the more advanced parts in the band.
The plan is to come together for five weeks and learn some songs, form a band and then perform in the local care homes.
We will:
learn how to play the ukulele from scratch (beginner level)
learn a repertoire of popular, socially engaged songs from different eras.
learn how to play in a band
learn new voicings, strumming patterns, solos (intermediate level)
explore improvisation
An Open Mic night will happen after the course and participants of this course will be welcome to share their music.
